Optimization Design and Injury Analysis of Driver’s Restraint System in Sedan Small Offset Collision

A combination of airbag, seatbelt, and other restraint systems greatly reduces injury to drivers in small offset collisions. However, the airbag causes accidental driver deployment process. To maximize protection effect system on driver, this study proposes a pre-tensioned force-limiting seatbelt. collision accident with video information was simulated by using Neon sedan THUMS (v.4.0.2) finite element model. The effectiveness model matching use seatbelt for were verified. obtain best parameter effect, first, A, force B, time C, ignition D, mass flow coefficient E selected as influencing factors, orthogonal tests different factor levels designed. Then, direct analysis method applied analyze influence laws each dynamic response injury. In addition, radial basis function surrogate constructed synthesizing kind critical value human body. Combined NSGA-II multi-objective genetic algorithm, structural performance parameters optimized matched. Results showed that optimal 4933.5 N−2499.9 N−16 ms−15.3 ms−0.5 (A−B−C−D−E). Finally, input into verification. After optimization, WIC Nij reduced 37.9% 45.3%, respectively. results show can protect most.
